If you haven’t checked out our updated Cross of the North website or our Facebook page, you might have missed a few things. Such as:

First City Cycling Team Adds Depth, Sponsors, and Number for 2014

1st City Mortgage Group will renew its title sponsorship of the First City Cycling Team in 2014. FCCT has been an important steward to the Northern Colorado cycling community since the early 2000s and is welcoming returning sponsors and riders as well as new key sponsors and riders.

FCCT will continue to support its roster of around 70 Northern Colorado amateur and elite level cyclists of all disciplines in 2014 by maintaining sponsorship with returning sponsors, Endurance Solar and Engineering, proVelo Bicycles, Backcountry Delicatessen, Spex Optical and Foothills Eye Care, Royster, Tiglas Ecological Services, Braaap Nutrition, and Cytomax. In addition to the returning sponsors, FCCT is excited to announce new partnership with Noosa Yoghurt and OtterBox, both of which are Northern Colorado companies. The team is also pleased to welcome new clothing sponsor Fast Freddie Apparel through 2014.

Notable additions to the 2014 roster include Alex Hagman (former pro rider for Jelly Belly), Jonathan Garcia (former pro rider for BMC), and Paul Esposti (former Welsh National Road Race Champion and 3-time top-10 finisher in the British Road Race Championships). These riders will supplement an experienced group of riders which include the 2014 USA Cyclo-cross National Championship Masters Men 35-39 Bronze Medalist, Steve Stefko, and 2014 Colorado State Cyclo-Cross Championship Men’s Single Speed Bronze Medalist/Team Manager, Dan Porter. These veteran riders and team management are focused on the development of the newer riders into safe, smart, and community friendly cyclists on and off the bike.

For the third consecutive year, the First City Cycling Team will organize and host the USA Cycling and Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado sanctioned Cross of the North cyclocross race series. The team also organizes and hosts the City Streets Crits, a Fort Collins grassroots race series in July and two weekly group rides during the summer road season. FCCT is proud to have Tim Lynch the Vice President of the Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado among its membership. Tim is also the race director of the Cross of the North. First City Cycling’s management team includes Kelby Bethards, Dan Fry, and Dan Porter, El Presidente of Your Group Ride.

The riders and management of FCCT are excited for, what they anticipate as, their “best year yet” and plan on besting their almost 500 race entries in 2013.
